HOLDING ON
A Story of Love and Survival
by
Jo Gambi
|
 |
|
Seven summits, 2 poles.
In 2004, Rob and Jo
Gambi became the first and fastest to climb all of the seven summits together
as a married couple, successfully summiting every mountain on their first
attempt. In addition to this Jo became the fastest female to complete
the seven summits and the second British woman to have completed Everest
by the North/North East ridge, one of its more dangerous and demanding
routes. |

Out
now
‘Having
faced death
head on, we wanted
no regrets. It was
time to go…’ |
 |
| |
Rob
and Jo have recently skied the last degree to the North Geographical
Pole, completing 1 year and 313 days of expeditions, making them the
first couple to have both climbed the seven summits and skied the
last degree to the North and South poles.
Their achievements are all the more remarkable given that a year before
they embarked on their adventures, Rob was recovering from his second
and more serious episode of cancer. In recognition of the valuable
work being done to progress the fight against cancer, Rob and Jo used
their Everest climb to raise money for ‘Cancer Research UK’,
in addition to a school project in Tibet. |
